The State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe focuses its training in Fine Art and Teaching at Gymnasium level.
With around 300 students, the Karlsruhe art academy is one of the smaller and more specialised art schools in Germany. The numerous spacious studios and workshops guarantee the perfect study conditions. The spaces are divided across three locations – the major building with its front and rear buildings, the sculpture garden and Scheibenhardt palace. The administration and library are in a Gründerzeit-style villa near the major building.
There are also courses in art appreciation and art history, aesthetic as well as the principles of art teaching and education. Guest lectures and seminars compliment the practical education.
The comprehensive library containing around 50,000 volumes, important publications and art journals is open from Monday to Friday.
